In this podcast, we discuss different mental health topics that might arise for the many international students studying at Reichman University and think out loud with the help of the psychological services at Reichman University.
Meg studies computer science and entrepreneurship at RU. She’s fascinated by the world of content creation and she is also passionate about starting an open dialogue around mental health. This week we continued speaking about antisemitism. We addressed a question from a student asking advice about how to cope with the hate that they are receiving from friends and family. We moved on to speaking about personal cases, as South Africans, of antisemitism.
We speak about our sense of abandonment as Jewish South Africans in Israel but also recognize the overwhelming fear felt to speak out in places that aren’t Israel.Lastly we spoke about the effect of antisemitism on our mental health. This is a very dark time for all of us but as the celebration of Hanukkah gets closer, we encourage us all to spread our light to rid the darkness.

In this week’s episode we answer two important questions that guide our discussion about antisemitism. This is going to be a two-part episode with a follow up on antisemitism next week with more questions. We address what it’s like being out-of-Israel at this time, how to deal with the isolation and frustration as well as answering the question of how to deal with our ancestral trauma.
