In this bonus episode of Between Cultures, we dive into the ultimate Third Culture Kid experience with our friend and fellow student, Daniel Elad. Daniel has lived all over the world, from London to India to Japan, before making Aliyah and settling in Israel, and we explore what it’s like to grow up moving between countries, cultures, and identities. We talk about the moments that made him feel different from the locals, the habits and cravings shaped by his travels, and how living abroad shaped his sense of home and belonging. This episode is all about celebrating the challenges, privileges, and unique perspective of being a Third Culture Kid.

In our final episode of the podcast, Ashi and I invited our friend Ella again to help us end things with a fun and silly wrap up of our TCK experiences. We talk about everything from embarrassing language mix ups and dramatic culture shock moments to the foods, gestures, and habits we have picked up along the way. We also get into the languages we dream in, argue in, gossip in, and accidentally switch between without noticing. It is a light, funny goodbye episode that feels like the perfect way to close the podcast.

In this episode of Between Cultures, we dive into two of the biggest expressions of culture, food and fashion. We talk about how style and taste differ between the countries we grew up in and the ones we have adapted to, from Israel’s laid back streetwear to the diverse fashion scene abroad. We also explore how food connects us to home, comparing the richness and healthiness of Israeli cuisine with the comfort and nostalgia of the meals and coffee we miss from abroad. This episode is all about how what we wear and what we eat reflect where we come from and who we have become.
